Birthday
Policy
The Texas
Department of Agriculture mandates specific regulations for Elementary Schools
regarding snacks and birthday treats students may share with their classmates.
The
regulations do not allow students to share snack items during lunch periods or
in the cafeteria. Instead of bringing
treats to lunch, parents will be allowed to provide a birthday treat such as a
cookie, brownie, rice crispy treat, etc. as long the treat is packaged for each
individual child. To minimize loss of
instructional time, treats will be distributed at the end of the instructional
day.
Parents are
still encourage to consider having lunch with their student on their special
day. They may also send special pencils,
stickers or erasers in lieu of birthday treats. These will also be distributed at the end of
the instructional day.
Candies,
drinks and party favors will not be distributed to any students. Sending flowers or balloons for a student is
not acceptable. These items will not be delivered to the student.
Birthday Party Invitations
Your child
may pass out birthday party invitations to their classmates only. In order to include all students, they may
send invitations to all of the girls in their class or to all of the boys in
their class or both boys and girls in their class only. If you need to send invitations to students
in other classes, you will need to mail these invitations or contact the parent
of that student to arrange delivery of the invitations.
